This brief diary is inspired by this diary, and by one of my favorite movies, The Hunt for Red October.

On Trolls, and my visit to mydd

Tue Mar 25, 2008 at 11:00:44 AM PDT

I took a little trip over to mydd on Sunday night after avoiding the place for a couple of weeks.  I have to say that I have a new perspective about mydd, and DailyKos, and I think that it’s something that we should all consider when we post here.

What is it about the Clintons?

Sat Mar 08, 2008 at 03:34:59 PM PDT

If you had asked me a year ago if I'd like to have a third term of Bill Clinton, I'd have said yes in a heartbeat.  I defended his actions all throughout the 90's, even when there were times when I thought they were a bit sketchy.  Probably it was because his attackers were just SO loathsome.

But now that I'm supporting a Clinton opponent, I think I'm starting to understand some of what I've been dismissing as mere right-wing talking points for so long.

My Michigan and Florida worry

Fri Mar 07, 2008 at 10:36:20 AM PDT

This whole Michigan and Florida thing has worried me from the very start last summer.  Those of us who can allow reason to influence our view of this situation know that you can't simply abandon 44 electoral votes in the fall election by refusing to seat delegations from these two states.  But you also can't allow such blatant, self-interested rule-breaking to stand unpunished.  Most importantly, you can't allow such dubious results of uncontested elections to count for anything of such importance.

There are many ways this situation can be "resolved".  Some are better than others.  But I see a really bad scenario, the worst case in my opinion, coming down the pipe, and it scares me more than all of Hillary's party-killing attacks combined.

SUSA analysis:  Obama less "danger" to lose General Election

Thu Mar 06, 2008 at 04:09:46 PM PDT

This is my own little number crunching exercise based on the SUSA numbers released today released today, and based on Bowers's further breakdown into "solid", "lean", and "tossup" states.  A slightly different look at quantifying the "odds" of Clinton and Obama in a general election against John McCain.

ONCE AND FOR ALL:  John McCain's citizenship status!!!

Fri Feb 29, 2008 at 09:38:19 AM PDT

There has been a lot of nonsense around the internet, and the mainstream media unfortunately, in the past few weeks about the status of John McCain's citizenship as a "Natural Born" citizen under Article II of the Constitution.

Being a lawyer, and being that I just love doing legal research, and being that my bosses are out of the office today and not looking over my shoulder, I decided to see what I could find.

Hopefully this will shut up the idiots.

Why Obama MUST win Texas (and not just by delegate count)

Fri Feb 22, 2008 at 12:57:51 PM PDT

It’s become pretty clear around teh interwebz that with the strange methodology of delegate assignment in the Texas Democratic Primary/Caucuses, even if Hillary has a moderate win in the popular vote that Obama could very well walk away with the majority of pledged delegates.

THIS IS NOT ENOUGH.

The Rude Pundit is civilized about Clinton/Obama

Wed Feb 20, 2008 at 08:51:38 AM PDT

It's a sad fucking state of affairs when The Rude Pundit thinks that Democratic partisans are acting like barbarians.  This is a man who regularly illustrates his political points with similes and metaphors to anal sex, gimp masks, and barbed phalli.  He uses the word "motherfucker" so much that Dr. Dre and Snoop tell him to "chill".

But apparently the vitriol between the Clinton and Obama supporters on the web has become just too much for his delicate sensibilities to handle.

The absurdity of hypocrisy (not Obama's fault Texas is unfair)

Mon Feb 18, 2008 at 09:57:40 AM PDT

I'd like to go on the record to say that, personally, I don't give a rat's furry ass about the "will of the people".  I think that it's wise for a political party to set up its nominating rules in order to best reflect the will of the people, but I also recognize that in a complex, multi-racial, multi-ethnic, federal republic such as ours, sometimes that is not 100% possible.

What I care about is playing FAIR, and abiding by the rules.

I won't vote Hillary/Obama if s/he wins the nomination

Fri Feb 15, 2008 at 10:32:28 AM PDT

I want to ask everyone here a serious question.

For everyone who is saying, "If your candidate wins the nomination, I will not support him/her," why is that?

This too shall pass...

Tue Jan 29, 2008 at 12:23:55 PM PDT

Ahh, the death knell of DailyKos is being rung from within and without.  There is no civility to be found in the former land of the righteous.  This beacon of reason and thoughtfulness now descended into madness, vitriol, and cannibalism.  We are proving them all right.  Democrats are divided, and we cannot agree on anything, and we will fall apart and accomplish nothing if elected because all we are is a bunch of immature partisans (even within our own ranks) tearing each other down over the most petty and small of differences in policy and motivation while using the most unseemly and profane language in doing so.

To this, I say "HORSESHIT!"
